RACE DETAILS

The Midtown 5k is a free, casual run/walk event for the whole family to promote fitness and community! As such, while we certainly welcome experienced runners to join, the event is targeted to all members of the community, regardless of your previous running experience!

The event is being hosted by Midtown Public Charter School, and will start and end at the school, located at our original campus (301 Adelle Street in the Midtown neighborhood of Jackson, Mississippi).

The race will be held on Saturday, February 25. It will begin at 9am. We encourage all participants to arrive between 8am and 8:30am. There will be no time limit for the race. The finishers' fair will be open as racers finish until 11:00am.

REGISTRATION: The Midtown 5k is a free event, but pre-registration is required. Registration will be open in the first few weeks of January. Click here to register.

PARKING: A drop-off only zone will be enforced at the school. No cars will be allowed in the area after 8:30am. Please plan ahead for parking. You may find street parking around the Midtown neighborhod, or park in the lot across from C.S.'s (1359 N West Street).

ROUTE MAP: Click here for our route map.

WEATHER: The race will be held rain or shine! Please check back for any severe weather alerts if necessary.

STROLLERS: Baby joggers and strollers are allowed in the 5k but should please assemble at the back of the pack at the start of the race.

HEADPHONES: Headphones are permitted but we encourage all participants to remain extra vigilant while on the streets for safety reasons.

TIME: The event is a casual community event organized by volunteer staff members of Midtown Public Charter School, and we do not have a professional racing partner to assist us with this event. As such, we are pleased to keep informal time but will not be utilizing chip timing technology in race bibs.
